Neotez Friends and Families,

As most of you are aware by now, an EF1 tornado swept through Camp Neotez last Saturday night. And while thankfully no one was hurt, many of our structures sustained significant damage. The last few days crews have been hard at work cleaning up debris and repairing what structures they could. At this time the Neotez Board feels confident that enough repairs and clean-up have occurred that we can happily announce that camp can continue this summer! However, several changes and adjustments must be made. Please read the rest of this message carefully to understand how these changes may affect your camper.

  1. Pre-Camp will NOT start on Sunday June 15. While the clean-up is going well, more time is still needed. Pre-Camp will instead be moved to JULY 27th-29th. If your child is signed up for Pre-Camp and the new date works for your family, there is nothing you need to do. Their registration will automatically move to the new date. If this new date does NOT work, please log in to CampDoc and remove your camper’s registration.
  2. Middle School week, Girls Week, and Boys Week will continue as originally scheduled. The one change with all of these weeks is our camper capacity. Two of our cabins were completely destroyed and will not be repaired in time for this camping season. If you are already signed-up for Middle School, Girls, or Boys week, there is nothing you need to do. If you know of someone who wants to attend one of these weeks, encourage them to sign-up ASAP as these weeks may reach capacity soon.
  3. All-Teen week (scheduled for July 20th-26th) is being changed to a High School ONLY week. If your camper just finished 7th or 8th grade and they are already signed up for All-Teen they will need to switch their registration and attend Middle School Week (June 22nd-28th). They will not be allowed to attend All-Teen this year. If attending Middle School week does NOT work with your family’s schedule, please log in to CampDoc and remove your camper’s registration. This decision was made to give the High Teen campers who missed their week due to the storm a chance to attend camp this summer.
  4. If your camper was signed up for High Teen week and they want to switch their registration to the All-Teen (High School ONLY) week, please sign on to your CampDoc account and request this change. If this new week does NOT work, please log in to CampDoc and remove your camper’s registration.
  5. We know these changes are hard and will not work for some of our families. For that we apologize. Please understand that these decisions were not made lightly and are intended to allow the maximum number of campers to attend camp this summer. We ask for your continued prayers as our clean-up continues. If you have any questions regarding your camper’s registration, please reach out to your week’s director.

We offer a special gift for top-tier memberships and this year it is a USB rechargeable electric lighter with the Neotez logo on it. You can see a picture of it on our membership page. Please take a moment to read this year’s membership newsletter that has interviews with our newest summer camp directors, a QR code for a video from All Teen week and more. Thanks for all the ways you help Neotez. We couldn’t do it without you.
